Hasegawa selects unrelated objects from everyday life as motifs, combining them on his canvas to produce a fresh new style of painting for which he is known. In Hasegawa’s paintings, ordinary objects readily accessible in everyday life such as apples, bananas, the leg of a chair, fabric, and ginger are morphed into an entirely different image through his prismatic brushstrokes. A mix between orthodox and modern styles, Hasegawa’s paintings are sure to lure his audience into his mysterious world. In this exhibition, void+ plans to showcase five to seven paintings created since 1997 including a few of his unpublished pieces.
